The island of Gavdos is the southernmost point of Europe. It is located 32 nautical miles SE of Palaeochora in Selinos district and 26 nautical miles from Chora Sfakion.

The permanent population of the island during the winter months - is about 40 people. During the summer the visitors increase substantially this number.

The transport between Gavdos and Crete is done by ANENDYK boats, which operate among the seaside resorts of Selinos and Sfakia districts (Palaeochora, Sougia, Ag.Roumeli, Chora Sfakion). There is also the possibility to hire a Taxi Boat.

During the winter months, transport is realised by boat twice a week.
